We hope to portray architecture not just as a set of aesthetic considerations but as a tool to impact change in communities.

Architecture is often solely understood as the process of designing the buildings and structures in the built environment, however, architecture is also the outcome of this process. With this in mind, we aimed to focus on student projects which considered the impact and agency of architecture as an interactive object placed within a community.

The selected projects look closely at what “community” may mean in architecture–needs, aspirations, potentials–as well as how a building and the functions it houses may integrate into a neighborhood.
